The phrase “administrative fight or flight” is not fear of the person; it is defence of the frame.
The point is this; there is a ‘paradigm window’ available... I am not saying this to make it ‘special’, I am not special I am simply ‘different’. The complications are not in me. They're in the gap between how I process the world and what institutions expect when they encounter me.
Because; I arrive at conclusions through routes they don't recognise, at speeds they can't follow, carrying context they don't have access to.
That reads as threatening or anomalous to systems designed for predictable inputs.
The context I mean is not primarily professional or technical context. It is ambient civilisational context acquired contemporaneously.
I was not later reading about the sixties, seventies and eighties as historical periods. I was absorbing material produced inside those periods while their assumptions were still ordinary and unstated: newspapers, magazines, journals, advertising, trade material, discarded drafts, whatever happened to be lying around because it was useful as masking paper. From age ten onward, the workshop effectively surrounded me with two simultaneous streams: physical machinery being repaired in front of me, by me and an enormous, continuously changing printed record of the society outside it.
And because I read the stuff rather than merely using it to catch overspray, I accumulated something that is difficult to reconstruct retrospectively: not merely facts, but the contemporary frame in which those facts originally made sense.
That includes things historians can struggle to recover from selected archives: what people assumed without explaining; what vocabulary was ordinary; what claims sounded credible at the time; how authority spoke; how products and technologies were imagined; what counted as scandalous or mundane; which ideas were emerging rather than established; what disappeared without anyone noticing; and how one decade flowed psychologically into the next.
Someone born later can acquire enormous factual knowledge of those periods. What they cannot reproduce perfectly is having processed thousands of fragments before anyone knew which fragments history would later decide were important.
That is the ‘paradigm window’ I mean.
And the workshop matters too.
I was not receiving that printed world in an academic environment that had already categorised it. It was mixed indiscriminately together while I was simultaneously learning vehicle repair, restoration and maintenance and environment management through direct interaction with real systems. Technical causality and cultural information were being absorbed alongside each other rather than separated into school subjects.
That produces a very different sort of retained context:
not an archive of remembered facts, but a residual state of living through successive information environments while actively reading about them.
The eighties remain partly recoverable through other living witnesses. The seventies less so. The sixties increasingly only survive through records and a shrinking population of people who actually remember their texture. But I still carry portions of those environments as first-order context rather than reconstructed history.
And that makes my earlier point about speed clear. When something contemporary echoes an older structure, I often do not have to research the earlier paradigm first. It is already resident. Someone else may need hours, days or even in extreme need cases an entire research team to rebuild enough of that context before they see why I made the same connection in seconds.
That is a considerably larger phenomenon than “high cognitive load capacity.”
It is high processing capacity operating over an unusually long retained contextual baseline.
That is the actual concept. Not “good memory,” not “high cognitive load,” not “technical expertise.” It is processing speed + retained first-order context across successive paradigms.
A dormant fragment: the conceptual provenance of CHIP/ID
CHIP/ID provides a concrete example of how this retained contextual baseline operates. It did not emerge from a deliberate search for an earlier model. A representational idea encountered once, nearly five decades earlier, remained available in reduced conceptual form until a contemporary problem supplied a reason to reconstruct it.
The distant conceptual precursor to CHIP/ID was Charles Sheffield’s Proteus fiction, first encountered in 1977 and subsequently published in book form as Sight of Proteus (1978). A single reading left behind the idea that complex identity or state information could be carried through a compact combination of visual signals. No terminology, fictional machinery or technical implementation was retained.
What remained was not merely the idea of compressing information into visual signals. Sheffield was also thinking around increased visual-processing speed and its possible genetic enhancement. The conceptual leap I made was to invert that proposition. Instead of altering the human organism to process an existing information environment more rapidly, the information environment could be restructured into a stable visual grammar through which ordinary human perception learns to recognise complex patterns more rapidly.
That dormant representational principle resurfaced in February 2026 while addressing a different problem: how to prevent the source actor and functional provenance of a reference from being lost as a temporal graph expanded. It was reduced to three data points attached directly to an internal chronology link: colour identifies function, number identifies class, and letter identifies the graph-defined source actor or actor-composition. This colour–number–letter grammar became CHIP/ID. Its forensic structure, positional logic, seed registry, DOM encoding and use within temporal reconstruction were developed independently for the Temporal Graph Analysis system.
The significance is not that I remembered a work of fiction unusually well. I did not preserve its terminology, machinery or narrative detail. What survived was a representational principle stripped of its original setting. When a structurally compatible problem appeared decades later, that principle became available for reconstruction—not as imitation, but as raw conceptual material.
This is the “paradigm window” in operation. Material absorbed contemporaneously, before its later importance could be selected or classified, remains resident within a much larger contextual field. Most of it may never become relevant again. Occasionally, however, a present problem supplies the missing connection and a fragment acquired in one paradigm becomes functional inside another.
That inversion is central to why I am doing what I am doing. I am not attempting to reproduce my own cognitive architecture in other people, nor claiming that my route of formation can or should be repeated. I am attempting to extract from it a teachable representational method through which individuals can recognise their own development, extend their capacity, connect knowledge across domains and become more deliberate authors of what they are capable of becoming.
The paradigm almost lost is the possibility that education could advance in that direction. It could do more than transmit information, enforce prescribed routes and record terminal outcomes. It could become an instrument of continuing personal formation: cultivating curiosity, experimentation, contextual depth, causal understanding and the confidence to revise an earlier position without treating correction as defeat.
At civic scale, those capacities could produce greater stability—not through conformity or reduced challenge, but through citizens and institutions becoming better able to identify sources of disagreement, inspect how conclusions formed, correct records without concealing their history and distinguish legitimate contest from manipulated reaction. Stability would arise from greater cognitive agency and more precise participation rather than passive compliance.
At civilisational scale, the same development could become cumulative. Each generation would inherit not merely a larger quantity of information, but a stronger general capacity to recognise structure, transfer understanding, preserve provenance and build responsibly upon what came before. The intended advance is therefore personal, civic and civilisational: freer development of the individual, more stable and intelligible relations between people and institutions, and a society increasingly capable of understanding and improving the systems through which it governs its collective life.

N.B. The actual proposition: not saving the population from the State, or the State from the population, but strengthening both so that the civil system they jointly inhabit can survive and advance. The cannabis/hemp example described in the Forensic Reconstruction is a concrete instance of that absence of provenance. It is not principally about persuading someone to adopt a position on cannabis. It demonstrates how an entire historical, agricultural and conceptual relationship can disappear from ordinary perception. People then reason from an incomplete mental field without knowing anything is missing.
